Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul dissolved parliament and set the country on course for early elections after political disputes and ongoing clashes on the Thailand–Cambodia border. King Maha Vajiralongkorn approved the dissolution decree, citing weak government stability and economic and security pressures.
The government will now serve in an interim role, with early elections expected in January or February. Anutin said he was “returning power to the people” and stressed that military operations along the border would continue unchanged.
