thousands demonstrate over inflation in france

Retirees, civil servants and workers, whose purchasing power has decreased due to the increase in inflation, took to the streets at 170 points across France. Protesters in the capital Paris marched from the historic Bastille Square to the Ministry of Finance in demonstrations organized by trade unions. Demanding the government to increase the minimum wage and social benefits, the demonstrators often chanted “Down with capitalism” while calling for President Emmanuel Macron to resign. Teachers and high school students, who have been on strike for two weeks, also supported the demonstration.

The demonstrators specifically called for an increase in the minimum wage, pensions and child benefit with the help of government-issued house rent.
