In India, thousands of farmers gathered in the states of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh to organized protests called Bharat Bandh against the government’s 3 new agricultural laws. On a highway in the city of Noida and on the Gurugram Highway in the state of Haryana, queues of vehicles formed for kilometers. Traffic came to a standstill as protesters staged sit-in on several highway and railroad tracks. A Punjabi farmer who participated in the protests died of a heart attack.
