Thousands protest controversial judicial reform in Israe

Thousands of Israelis protested in Jerusalem against the controversial judicial reform proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. The reform seeks to limit the power of the Supreme Court and reduce the judiciary’s influence on the selection of judges. Despite calls to delay the vote, parliament is scheduled to hold its first session today to vote on the reform.

The Supreme Court currently serves as the highest judicial authority in Israel, with the power to overturn laws that contradict the “fundamental laws” of the state.
