Thousands Protest Merz’s Remarks on Immigrants in Berlin

Around 7,500 people rallied outside the Christian Democratic Union headquarters in Berlin to protest Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s comments describing immigrants as a “problem in the city’s image.”

Demonstrators held banners reading “Racism is the problem” and “Nazis out.” Activist Luisa Neubauer condemned Merz’s “racist and divisive” rhetoric, saying it harms social unity. The protest ended peacefully.
