Three Dead from Hantavirus on Cruise Ship off Cape Verde

A deadly hantavirus outbreak on a luxury cruise ship anchored off the coast of Cape Verde has claimed three lives and infected four others. The Dutch-flagged MV Hondius, carrying 147 international passengers on a high-end nature expedition, has been barred from docking by local authorities to prevent the spread of the rare rodent-borne virus. With no known cure for the severe respiratory illness, one infected passenger currently remains in critical condition while three others exhibit mild symptoms. Health officials and the World Health Organization are now coordinating a complex air ambulance evacuation to safely extract the patients while keeping the vessel under strict quarantine.
