Tomb of Bilal al-Habashi Reopens for Visitors in Damascus

The tomb of Bilal al-Habashi, a companion of Prophet Muhammad and Islam’s first muezzin, is now accessible to visitors in Damascus following the fall of the Assad regime. Located in Bab al-Saghir Cemetery, a historic Ottoman site, the tomb had remained largely unvisited for 13 years due to Syria’s internal conflict.

Turkish journalists recently visited the site, marking the first visit since the regime’s fall. With the city’s liberation, the tomb is once again open to Muslims and visitors seeking to honor its historical and religious significance.
