Tons of Fish Die in Polluted Brazilian River

A mass fish death occurred in River Piracicaba, where industrial waste from a sugar and ethanol factory was allegedly illegally discharged, in Brazil’s Sao Paulo. Ten to twenty tons of fish perished in the river.

Sao Paulo environmental agency official Adriano Queiroz said that the disaster will have a significant impact on the biodiversity in the river and that the area will take years to recover.
