In a recent incident at a wildlife conservation center in Chiang Mai, Thailand, a 32-year-old Swedish tourist and volunteer, Stefan Claudio Specogna, was attacked by a wild bear while offering it fruit. The bear bit Specogna’s right hand as he extended it through the iron bars to provide the animal with food. Eyewitnesses reported that the bear pulled him toward the cage. In a desperate attempt to escape, Specogna resorted to cutting his own arm with a knife. He was subsequently hospitalized, and fortunately, his life is not in danger. An investigation has been initiated to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
