The trial of Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has begun in Oslo, the capital of Norway. The 29-year-old faces 38 charges, including the alleged rape of four women, violence against former partners, drug possession, and death threats.
The court said hearings would partly be held behind closed doors due to international media interest, with recording and photography banned. Høiby denied the rape allegations, which relate to incidents in 2018, 2023, and 2024, and could face up to 16 years in prison if convicted. He was detained last week over assault and restraining order violations and does not hold any royal title or official role.
