Tropical Storm Alberto Claims 3 Lives on Mexico’s Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Alberto made landfall on Mexico’s Gulf coast, causing heavy rainfall and flooding. The storm, the first of the Atlantic hurricane season, struck near the US border, particularly impacting northeastern Mexico. With wind speeds reaching 80 kilometers per hour, Alberto affected areas around Tampico port, leading to warnings from the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) about potential worsening conditions.

Three fatalities were reported due to the storm’s impact. Governor Samuel Garcia of Nuevo Leon confirmed the deaths, including a 15-year-old boy who drowned in a river near Monterrey. Emergency teams are actively responding to the aftermath of the storm.
