tropical storm fred hits dominican republic

Tropical storm Fred hit the Dominican Republic. Streets in the capital Santo Domingo and several cities were flooded, and around 300,000 houses were left without electricity. More than half a million people were also affected by river flooding due to clogging of water systems. Trials at the Ciudad Nueva courthouse have been postponed.

The storm is expected to reach the central and eastern coasts of Cuba tomorrow and the US state of Florida on Saturday.
