Trump Calls for International Role in Securing Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump said discussions are underway with other countries about securing the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said the waterway is more critical for other countries that rely heavily on oil shipments passing through the strait.

“I think it would be a good thing for other countries to get involved,” Trump said, noting that China receives about 90 percent of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also claimed Iran’s missile arsenal has declined and said U.S. forces have begun striking drone production facilities in Iran.
