Tens of thousands gathered at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, to honor slain conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. US President Donald Trump, joined by top officials and Kirk’s wife Erica, called Kirk “a martyr of America and freedom” and announced he would be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Trump said the attack that killed Kirk “targeted the entire United States” and urged the harshest punishment for the assassin. The memorial also drew attention when Trump was seen speaking with Elon Musk, who later posted a photo of their meeting with the message, “For Charlie.”
