Donald Trump, the newly elected 47th President of the United States, has nominated Tom Barrack, founder of Colony Capital, as the US ambassador to Türkiye.
Announcing the decision on social media, Trump stated, “Tom has successfully managed a global private equity firm for 30 years. He is an experienced and respected figure in both political and business circles.”
Barrack, a close associate of Trump, is known for his private equity expertise. He was previously acquitted in 2022 of charges related to operating as an unregistered foreign agent for the UAE.
