During a critical summit on Iran alongside the 81st UN General Assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump held high-level talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Gulf nation leaders. Opening the multilateral meeting, Trump warmly greeted the Turkish President, stating, “He is a tough cookie, don’t mess around him. He is a fantastic guy.”
Shifting focus to ongoing negotiations with Iran, Trump noted that U.S. envoys had a “very productive meeting with the mediators” and emphasized there is “strong momentum to reach an agreement.” He also highlighted the severe economic toll on Iran, urging them to make positive changes for their people because “the other option is not an acceptable option for anyone.”
