Tunisians began going to the polls to elect a new president who will govern the country as of 08:00 local time. The results of the election, in which incumbent President Kais Said, Chaab Party leader Zouhair Magzhaoui and Ayachi Zammel, who was recently sentenced to 12 years in prison, are running, are expected to be announced within two days.
The election commission appointed by Said disqualified three leading candidates last month, causing the political tension to rise in Tunisia.
