Turkey and TRNC conduct search and rescue exercise in cyprus

Martyr Lieutenant Caner Gönyeli-2022 Search and Rescue Invitation Exercise, organized by Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), was held in north Cyprus. In the first phase of the exercise, a search and rescue operation was carried out after a passenger plane lost contact over the Beşparmak Mountains in the TRNC airspace. In accordance with the scenario, the evacuation of the injured passengers took place as a result of the crash of a passenger plane taking off from Izmir in a mountainous area in Girne. The rescue exercise, which was carried out with the participation of 3 helicopters belonging to the Republic of Turkey, ended with a demonstration flight.

In addition to the institutions and organizations of the Republic of Turkey, the TRNC institutions and organizations participated in the exercise intensively. On the other hand, 10 military representatives from 9 countries are participating in the exercise as “observers” this year.
