A total of 57 Syrian refugees, 35 of whom were children, were sent to Syria as part of an “Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration” program from Istanbul’s Esenyurt district, Turkey. A farewell ceremony was held for the Syrians who were sent to the border gates in the border towns of Hatay and Kilis. Refugees thanked Turkey, stating that they were happy during their stay in the country.
The project, which was initiated in 2018, was interrupted with the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
