Turkey’s new drilling ship, Abdülhamid Han, has been completed and will participate in the country’s hydrocarbon exploration in the east Mediterranean. With its technical equipment and physical features, the ship will be the ‘strongest’ drilling ship of the ‘Blue Homeland’ fleet which arrived in Mersin, Turkey, from South Korea about 3 months ago. The ship sets sail today with a ceremony attended by Turkish President Erdoğan.
The ship can drill up to 12,200 meters with a crew of 200. Abdülhamid han is one of the 5 ships of its kind in the world, and it weighs 62,000 gross tons.
