Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continues holding official talks in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. President Erdoğan, who came to Samarkand yesterday and held bilateral meetings, attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Summit today.
During his speech at the summit, President Erdoğan congratulated Iran on joining the SCO, saying, “I congratulate our neighbor Iran, which has just been accepted as a member of the Organization. Turkey has an exceptional position as the westernmost Asian and the easternmost European. “We are trying to strengthen our relations with Asia, our ancestral homeland, in every field, with our re-entry to Asia that we announced in 2019,” he said.
Addressing the UN, Erdoğan said that the order established after the Second World War has lost its ability to resolve crises. “Our aim is to establish a zone of peace in our region and beyond, with an entrepreneurial diplomacy approach centered on people and humanitarian values. In this context, we are making great efforts to end the conflicts in Ukraine through diplomacy as soon as possible. We carry out productive cooperation with the United Nations and other parties at the point of shipment of Ukrainian grain over the Black Sea. We are also making sincere efforts to deliver grain to those who need it most, especially to our brothers in Africa,” Erdoğan said.
