Turkish Airlines Resumes Flights to Damascus After 13 Years

Turkish Airlines has resumed flights to Damascus, Syria, after a 13-year suspension due to internal unrest. The first flight, coded “TK 846,” departed from Istanbul Airport and landed at Damascus International Airport after a two-hour journey, carrying 349 passengers.

The flight marked a symbolic moment, with Turkish and Syrian flags displayed on the cockpit windows. Upon arrival, passengers were transported to the terminal while chanting, “Syria is ours, not Assad’s.” TK had last operated flights to Syria on April 1, 2012.
