Turkish and Egyptian Journalists met in Cairo

 

Turkish and Egyptian journalists gathered in Cairo for Yunus Emre Institute’s Media Meetings, aimed at enhancing media cooperation and bilateral relations. The meetings involved representatives from major media outlets like Ihlas News Agency, NTV, Sabah Newspaper, TRT News, Al-Shorouk Newspaper, Al-Jumhuriya Newspaper, Al-Ahram Newspaper, and others at a hotel in Cairo’s historic Tahrir Square.

Emin Boyraz, Yunus Emre Institute Cairo Coordinator, highlighted the institute’s role in promoting Turkish language and culture globally. He mentioned Türkiye’s President Erdoğan’s recognition of Cairo’s interest in Turkish culture, stressing the cultural ties’ importance in bilateral relations. Boyraz stated, “YEE has been a door opening to our Egyptian brothers for 14 years,” and expressed hope for the meetings to benefit relations.

Dr. Melih Barut, from Yunus Emre Institute Cultural Diplomacy Academy, discussed Egypt’s significance in Türkiye’s historical and cultural context. He emphasized the meetings’ goal of fostering mutual understanding and regional peace through responsible broadcasting, saying, “Our primary goal is to provide the opportunity to know and understand societies more closely through publications.”

Turkish Journalist Yavuz Donat spoke about the historical ties between Türkiye and Egypt, expressing optimism about their enduring friendship. Mohamed Saad Abdelhafeez, Deputy Chairman of the Egyptian Journalists Union, emphasized common aspects and potential mutual benefits in history, culture, and civilization between the two countries, stating, “I believe that we can reveal issues that both countries can benefit from.”

Discussions during the sessions focused on enhancing bilateral media relations, sharing information accurately, and developing joint projects to strengthen communication between Turkish and Egyptian journalists. Abdelhafeez also suggested mutual visits, internship programs, and cooperation agreements to further strengthen ties and understanding between the media of both countries.
