Turkish art students sculpted ice cubes

Ataturk University Fine Arts Faculty Sculpture Department students made sculptures from ice cubes at the Ata Ice Museum, Türkiye’s first ice museum. The museum, where new sculptures are made with a concept change every 3-6 months, has the feature of giving the first and only ice sculpting lesson in Türkiye. Moreover, ice statues, in which are sculpted the local cultural elements of Erzurum, Turkish, Greek and Egyptian mythology, are exhibited in the museum.

Remarking that only stone, wood, metal and clay courses are given in sculpture schools, Atatürk University Faculty of Fine Arts Sculpture Department lecturer Caner Şengülalp said, “In addition to these courses, we give our students an ice sculpting course as an alternative, which is an opportunity that the museum has. We want to take this to an important level, and we strive to have our students represent our university and our country in notable organizations abroad.”
