Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu arrived in Baku at the invitation of Azerbaijani Chief of Staff General Kerim Veliyev. He was welcomed by Defense Minister General Zakir Hasanov, who highlighted the historic ties between Türkiye and Azerbaijan and congratulated Bayraktaroğlu on his new post.
During the visit, Bayraktaroğlu met with Veliyev to discuss expanding military, technical, and training cooperation, as well as regional security issues. He also visited the graves of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the Martyrs’ Alley, and the Turkish Martyrs’ Cemetery, commemorating the soldiers of the Caucasus Islamic Army who liberated Baku from Armenian and Bolshevik forces on September 15, 1918.
