Türkiye’s Directorate of Religious Affairs turned a hotel on Arafat Road in Mecca into a comprehensive hospital to help pilgrims who need medical aid during their time in the sacred lands.
Diyanet Mecca Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Rıdvan Yalçın said that chronic diseases, especially upper respiratory tract infections, and high blood pressure were experienced among crowds, and that 10 pilgrims died in the first 15 days of the pilgrimage this year.
The 110-bed hospital has departments such as emergency service, pharmacy, dental, laboratory, x-ray, ultrasound, 2 intensive care units and will provide polyclinic services in 20 branches.
