Turkish Envoy in Armenia: “Border Almost Ready to Be Opened”

Turkish Special Representative Serdar Kılıç announced that the Türkiye-Armenia border is nearing its reopening, pending final logistical preparations. Speaking at the Yerevan Dialogue Forum, Kılıç stated, “The border is almost ready to be opened. However, there are still some bureaucratic and technical tasks that need to be completed.” He highlighted Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz’s recent landmark visit to Yerevan as a critical turning point in bilateral relations, noting that “no one would have believed that we would be at this point today.”

To further accelerate diplomatic normalization, the two nations have signed a protocol to jointly restore the historic 11th-century Silk Road Bridge and are actively advancing other confidence-building measures, such as direct flights and railway reconstruction.
