Turkish father reunites with his family in Poland

Ukrainian civilians fleeing the attacks of Russia continue to pass through the Medika Border Gate on the Polish border. A Turkish man Engin Keleş, who was in the capital Kyiv during the war, reunited with his wife Irina and daughter Miray at the border gate after a long wait. Keleş had emotional moments when meeting with his wife and daughter.

Keleş said that he has lived in Ukraine for 25 years. “I have four children. Two of them went to Turkey because of the war. One of my sons is in the military here. I also have a little girl,” he said. Stating that he was in Kyiv when the explosions started on the third day of the war, Keleş said, “I could not return there because my family was in Cherkasy. Because the other side was closed. On the third day after hearing the guns, we started looking for a vehicle to see how we could get out. We tried to come to Lviv with our own vehicle. It took a while, but we came to Lviv. We left the car there. We walked from Ukraine to the Polish side. When I came here, there was a queue of vehicles of about 30 kilometers,” he said.
