Turkish Fishermen Save Sea Turtle Weighed Down by Stone

Amateur fishermen off the coast of Kuşadası, Türkiye, successfully rescued a loggerhead sea turtle that was deliberately tethered to a heavy paving stone. Ahmet Şahin and Haluk Turgut spotted the struggling animal bobbing in the Aegean Sea, as the air-breathing creature desperately fought to surface for oxygen. Lacking specialized equipment, the pair spent nearly two hours battling to pull the sea turtle close enough to cut the cruel restraint. After finally severing the rope around its leg, the men safely released the unburdened turtle back into the open water. Condemning the blatant animal cruelty, Şahin expressed his shock, stating that no one with a conscience could ever do such a thing.
