The TCG Gökçeada frigate, serving in the Turkish Naval Task Group, was detected a boat on May 5 off the coast of Misrata, Libya. Turkish frigate determined that the boat was carrying 17 half unconscious irregular migrants on board. Later on, TCG Gökçeada was intervened the boat and rescued the migrants by taking them on board. In the medical check-up made by the doctor on board, it was also determined that 12 people were in good health and 4 people were unconscious. On the other hand, 1 migrant died despite all the efforts of the medical personnel. It was learned that the migrants, whose needs were met with the necessary medical attention, were from Bangladesh and had been at sea for 10 days. The rescued irregular migrants were handed over to the Libyan authorities in Homs Port as a result of the coordination established.
