Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has arrived in Ukraine

Upon the invitation President Volodymyr Zelensky, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in the Ukraine’s capital city Kiev to participate in the 10th meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council (HLSC) between Turkey and Ukraine. Upon their arriving, President Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Edoğan have greeted at first by officials at the Boryspil International Airport in the capital Kiev. Both President Erdoğan and First Lady Erdoğan were served Ukraine’s traditional bread Korovai at the airport.

Leaving the airport, Erdoğan placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which was built in memory of those who died in the Second World War. Afterwards, President Erdoğan went to Mariinskyi Palace, where he was welcomed with an official ceremony by President Zelensky. At the ceremony Erdoğan saluted the guard of honor after the national anthems of the two countries were sung. After the ceremony in which the mutual delegations were introduced, Erdoğan and Zelenskiy then moved on to their bilateral meeting.

The HLSC meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Erdoğan and Zelenskiy with the participation of the relevant Ministers. During the meeting, it’s been expected that the all aspects of Turkey-Ukraine relations at the strategic partnership level will be reviewed and the efforts to deepen the cooperation between the two countries will be discussed. During the meetings, views on bilateral relations as well as the regional and international issues will be exchanged. Within the scope of the council meeting, it is also planned to sign various agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries. After the meeting, the two leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference. After the Council meeting, a signing ceremony will be held with the participation of the relevant Ministers of both countries in various fields.
