Turkish Warship Joins US 250th Anniversary

The newly modernized Turkish warship TCG Oruçreis has arrived in New York City to participate in the international naval review marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Following its involvement in the NATO FLEETEX-250 exercise, the vessel sailed alongside a global fleet on the Hudson River during the July 4th Independence Day celebrations. Emphasizing the vessel’s recent technological upgrades, Commander Kemal Varlı stated the ship’s domestic modernization is a “strong reflection of the vision of independence that Türkiye has achieved in the defense industry.” Showcasing the country’s commitment to military diplomacy before departing for Ireland on July 8, the crew noted the historic port visit allows the Turkish flag “to proudly wave across the Atlantic.”
