Sevim Haznedaroğlu, an 83-year-old Turkish woman who lives in the Ünye district of Ordu province in Türkiye, weaves her motifs into carpets despite her advancing age. Haznedaroğlu learned rug weaving from her sister when she was nine years old, and she has been weaving rugs for over 70 years. Currently, she shows the tricks of the craft to other trainees in the Carpet and Rug Weaving course.
“I recommend that young people learn this profession. I give the rugs I weave to my children and friends as souvenirs,” she said.
