Türkiye celebrated the 97th anniversary of Maritime and Cabotage Day on July 1st with a ceremony in the Çanakkale province. Officials laid wreaths at the Atatürk Monument and the Dardanelles in memory of the naval martyrs. A water show was held in the Bosphorus with tugboats afterward.
The holiday represents the termination of the privileges given to foreigners in Turkish ports and coasts with the cabotage law that came into force on July 1, 1926.
