Türkiye Dominates European Wrestling Championship with Historic Wins

 

In a remarkable display of skill and achievement at the European Wrestling Championship in Bucharest, Romania (12-18 February), Türkiye’s Greco-Roman and Freestyle Wrestling National Teams clinched the championship titles, while the Women’s National Team secured a commendable second place.

Highlighting individual achievements, 19-year-old Alperen Berber secured the European champion title in the Greco-Roman style (82 kilograms), marking his debut in the championship. Selçuk Can (72 kilograms) and Nesrin Baş (women’s 72 kilograms) earned their first European championships.

The National Freestyle Wrestling Team’s collective effort resulted in 6 medals, including 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze, securing the team championship. The Greco-Roman Wrestling National Team claimed 6 medals as well, with 2 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze, earning them the team European champion title.

The Women’s National Wrestling Team closed the championship with 5 medals, comprising 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze, securing their second-place finish in the European Championship as a team.
