A forest fire that began in the Gümüşyeniköy area of Aydın’s Germencik district spread rapidly to Söke’s Argavlı district, fueled by strong winds, leaving behind a heartbreaking scene. The fire, which started in an agricultural area for unknown reasons, raged throughout the night, shifting directions and spreading further as winds changed.
Night vision helicopters worked through the night to combat the flames, with additional aircraft joining the effort at first light. With the fire in Muğla Milas extinguished, resources were redirected to the fire-stricken areas in Aydın.
Ground crews from surrounding provinces and various private institutions supported the firefighting efforts alongside the Regional Directorate of Forestry and Aydın Metropolitan Municipality. The fire is now largely under control, though aircraft continue to monitor and extinguish occasional flare-ups in the Gümüşdağ region.
