A delegation from Türkiye, including Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin and İlim Yayma Foundation Chairman Bilal Erdoğan, participated in laying 5,500 square meters of newly woven carpets at the historic Umayyad Mosque in Damascus.
The carpets, made by Gaziantep weavers, were produced in a short time with a special design approved by both sides. Mayor Şahin emphasized the significance of the project and expressed hope for peace and prosperity in the region. The final piece of carpet was laid by the delegation, marking the completion of the restoration effort.
