Türkiye Neutralizes 21 Terrorists in a Week

Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense announced that 21 terrorists were neutralized in counter-terrorism operations in northern Iraq and Syria last week, bringing the total to 523 since January 1. Ministry spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk stated that three PKK terrorists surrendered, urging others to lay down their arms.

On border security, Aktürk reported that 70 people attempting illegal crossings were caught, including three linked to terrorist organizations, while 977 were prevented from crossing.

Regarding Gaza, Aktürk condemned Israel’s intensified attacks, calling them violations of international law and urging the global community to act.

The ministry also highlighted advancements in Türkiye’s defense industry, including the addition of New Generation Storm Howitzers and SAR-56 infantry rifles to the military inventory. Recruitment processes for military personnel continue as planned.

On Syria, the ministry reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for regional stability and security, while stressing concerns over the New Syrian Government’s agreement with the SDF.

In international defense matters, Turkish officials participated in a UK-hosted security meeting on Ukraine, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire before deploying peacekeeping forces. Türkiye’s defense relations with NATO, the EU, and the ongoing F-16 and Eurofighter procurement discussions also remain key priorities.

Lastly, the ministry addressed a recent fight among Somali soldiers in Isparta, where 51 trainees were injured. A delegation has been assigned to investigate the incident.
