Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Türkiye is prepared to take responsibility for Black Sea maritime security following a possible ceasefire in Ukraine. Speaking in Paris, Fidan said, “There is nothing more natural than the responsibility of Türkiye, as a NATO member with the largest fleet in the Black Sea, for the security of the Black Sea.” He added that significant progress has been made on ceasefire monitoring and deterrence mechanisms, and that Türkiye could also contribute to Ukraine’s post-war economic recovery.
