Türkiye’s ASELSAN Launches LUNA-1 IoT Satellite on SpaceX Mission

ASELSAN’s first Space-based IoT satellite, LUNA-1, was successfully launched from California aboard a SpaceX Falcon-9 as part of the Transporter-15 mission. About an hour after liftoff, the satellite entered a 510-km sun-synchronous orbit, and its first telemetry signals were decoded by ASELSAN’s ground station in Ankara.

Designed, built, and tested entirely by ASELSAN engineers, LUNA-1 marks a major step in Türkiye’s plan to create a national low-Earth-orbit IoT network for real-time data services.

The satellite will support IoT applications in remote areas, enable wide-area sensor communication, offer long-life low-power connectivity, and provide low-latency data transmission.
