Türkiye’s Diyarbakır Tourism Picks Up After Earthquake and Pre-Election Slowdown

After the recent earthquake, tourism activity in Diyarbakir has started to pick up. Despite some damage to historical sites, tourism is expected to increase by 100% after the upcoming election. However, tourism has been slightly affected by the election activities, causing many to postpone their travel plans. Recep Koyuncu, a member of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, has stated that tourism in the city has started to pick up in the last 10 days, but is still down by 90% compared to last year. The tourism industry is hopeful that after the election, the activity in tourism will reach previous levels.
