As the first international visit of his new presidential term, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan went to Nicosia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for a private meeting with President Ersin Tatar. Following his arrival, Erdoğan headed to the monument of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the capital to lay a wreath. He was then welcomed by President Ersin Tatar with an official ceremony. The two exchanged ideas on the steps to be taken in all areas of bilateral relations and discussed the current state of the island in detail.
