Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that Osman Gazi—Turkey’s first floating production platform—is ready to depart for its operational site within the “Blue Homeland” (Mavi Vatan), adding, “We will increase the number of households whose natural gas needs are met through domestic resources from 4 million to 8 million.”
As Turkey’s first floating production platform, Osman Gazi is set to double domestic natural gas production at the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea. First unveiled to the public by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in July 2024, the floating production platform is notable for its massive dimensions. Spanning the length of approximately three football fields, the platform measures 298.5 meters in length, 56 meters in width, and 29.5 meters in depth.
