Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking at the 10th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in Portugal, warned of escalating global polarization and intolerance. “We have never been this close to a clash of civilizations. This is a warning to humanity,” he stated, urging immediate action to address the fragmentation in the international system.
Fidan highlighted the Alliance of Civilizations initiative, launched by Türkiye and Spain, as a collective effort to promote peace and counter violent extremism. He stressed the worsening global issues, citing rising xenophobia, racism, and Israel’s actions in Palestine, which he described as fueling societal hatred and instability. Fidan called for unity to prevent further divisions.
