Gölünyazı, one of Türkiye’s key bird paradises in Çorum, has completely dried up due to severe drought. Aerial footage reveals a barren landscape where the lake once hosted rich wildlife. Çorum, experiencing record-low rainfall, continues to face worsening drought conditions. Once vital for regulating the region’s water regime, Gölünyazı is now dry, impacting both wildlife and local residents.
Local resident İbrahim Gündugan expressed hope for rain, saying, “Our lake is famous for its bird paradise, but it’s been dry for two years.” The drought has also affected the area’s drinking water.
