Türkiye’s Historic Ravanda Castle Seeks the Spotlight

Perched on a steep hill in Türkiye’s Kilis province, the 11th-century Ravanda Castle rewards visitors with magnificent views after a demanding 255-step climb. Despite its rich Crusader-era history, the ancient fortress remains largely undiscovered by both locals and tourists. Local visitor Halil Özkaraca urged authorities to improve the site’s landscaping, stressing that the historic military base “needs to be more popular” and “is important for cultural tourism.” While the steep ascent can be tiring under the sun, visitors agree the breathtaking scenery makes the trek entirely worthwhile.
