Resembling the famous fairy chimneys of Cappadocia, the stunning “Sliced Rocks” in Türkiye’s Tokat province are increasingly captivating nature lovers and photographers. The labyrinth-like landscape was naturally carved out of a collapsing mountainside over thousands of years by relentless wind and rain erosion. Now declared a protected natural monument, the 19-hectare site is slated to become a major ecotourism destination with planned walking trails and viewing areas. Describing the area’s unique geology, local resident Ahmet Çoban explained, “These rock formations are not rocks, but soil, formed centuries ago by the effects of wind and rain.” Authorities hope that continued conservation and promotion will further boost global tourism to these striking yellow and brown geological wonders.
