Two foreign women shared footage and images of themselves playing cards and drinking coke on gravestones in a cemetery in the Muratpaşa district of Antalya, a touristic district of Türkiye, on social media.
The media was posted with the caption, “It was nice to drink coke with someone who died 15 years before it was invented.”
After the footage and images spread and caused a huge backlash, legal action was initiated against the individuals for the crime of ‘Inciting the public to hatred and hostility’ under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code.
Authorities determined that the individuals had left Türkiye on Monday, March 10.
