Two more bodies were found on the beach of a hotel in Antalya’s Serik district, increasing the total number of bodies found on the city’s beaches since the beginning of the week to 8. The sex and identity of the two bodies, found 500 meters apart from each other, have not yet been determined. The bodies were sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute for examination.
It is estimated that one of the bodies belongs to a Turkish woman who disappeared a while ago. The others were estimated to belong to a group of immigrants in a boat that reportedly have sailed from the coastal area between Lebanon and Cyprus towards Cyprus with 90 people on December 11, 2023, and was not heard from for hours later. The clothes found on them were determined to be Syria-made.
