Typhoon Khanun in Japan kills One

Typhoon Khanun wreaked havoc in Japan’s Okinawa province, resulting in one death and 22 injuries. Strong winds from the storm caused widespread power outages, impacting approximately 34% of households in the province and additional homes in the Amami Islands. Transportation was paralyzed due to the cancellation of hundreds of flights and ferry services. The storm caused flooding, uprooted roofs, and overturned vehicles. The Japan Meteorological Agency warned of ongoing effects, including potential wind speeds of up to 234 km/h and urged residents in high-risk areas to brace for possible flooding and landslides.
